Gov. Matt Meyer signed a bill that makes changes to the State's Workers' Compensation Law.
Changes included allowing workers' comp payments to be made by direct deposit, and the Office of Workers' Compensation increased the reimbursement percentage of activities from 66.6% to 100%.
It ensures that the inspection and safety functions of the Division of Industrial Affairs are fully covered, as they are currently partially covered. Insurance carriers pay the assessment, a release stated.
The act also makes technical corrections to ensure conformity with existing law.
The legislation was passed by near-unanimous margins, with only two Republican state senators voting against the bill.
Sponsor was State Sen. Brian Townsend, D-Bear/Newark.
The Workers' Compensation system in Delaware has seen its share of issues in the past, wth rates paid by employers and employees among the highest in the nation. The state's small size was also blamed for the calculations of costs.
