The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is currently investigating an apartment building fire that led to six people being injured, two critically. Dozens were displaced by the blaze.
At around 2:30 p.m., the Christiana Fire Company was dispatched to a fire in the 1000 block of Woodchuck Place in the Fox Run Apartment Complex.
Upon arrival the department found heavy fire and smoke coming from a three story apartment complex.
Several Fire Departments were alerted and responded to assist.
The incident command called for a second alarm response due to the high wind conditions and the fire's intensity.
Six people were injured, 2 critically, were treated at the scene by New Castle County Paramedics and Fire Department EMS.
The 6 victims were transported to Christiana Hospital. The two who were critically injured were then transferred to the burn center Crozer in Pennsylvania.
Damage to the building is estimated at more than $1 million. The Red Cross of Delmarva was on scene to provide assistance to approximately 36 residents.
