Winners were announce Monday at Innovation Venture – a national agribusiness-AI conference for HBCU students -created by Delaware State University (DSU) and Capital One.
The event was held on the DSU campus in Dover.
Governor Meyer, U.S. Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester and Shark Tank’s Daymond John, were among those who attended and spoke at the event.
Daymond John of Shark Tank, who shared the news of a $5,000 endowment fund, which will be the first endowment fund at the College of Agriculture, Science, and Technology (CAST) college and only the second at the university.
Three tiers of student competitors won $225,000 in seed funding and business licenses that could move their ideas to the marketplace.
* Tier I (Middle/High School) – $50,000 o Solution Station, Code Differently: A photo-recognition app that uses AI algorithms to identify agricultural pest
* Tier II (Undergraduate) – $75,000 o Agribonum, Delaware State University: AI solutions that automate and rejuvenate current food supply chain practices.
* Tier III (Graduate) – $100,000 AgroVision, Morgan State University: An AI-powered modular hydroponic farming system enabling sustainable, automated, and space-efficient food production
