Beal named Delmarva Power regional president
Pepco Holdings named Marcus Beal as its new vice president of Governmental and External Affairs and region president for Delmarva Power.
Beal will lead the company’s external affairs and stakeholder engagement strategy for the company, working closely with elected officials, business leaders, and community partners.. Beal replaces Phil Vavala, who has retired after more than 30 years with the Exelon family of companies and its predecessors.
Beal’s experience spans multiple disciplines – from systems engineering and information technology to communications and regulatory strategy – making him exceptionally well-positioned to guide the company’s external affairs efforts. Over the years, he has played an integral role in advancing key initiatives that enhance reliability, strengthen operations, and support transparent communication with customers and stakeholders.
Most recently, Beal served as director for Governmental and External Affairs at Delmarva Power, where he oversaw engagement efforts with stakeholders in the region.
Rehoboth names panning director
Corey Shinko, has been named the permanent Director of Planning, Zoning and Development of the Building & Licensing Department for the City of Rehoboth Beach.
Shinko has been with the City for four years. Shinko started as Assistant Building Inspector, then became the Building Inspector, and most recently, served as the Interim Director of Planning, Zoning and Development.
Last year the Building & Licensing Department issued approximately 1,250 permits, performed approximately 1,100 inspections, and continued to maintain approximately 2,870 business licens
Hanlon named president of Highmark Health
Highmark Health announced its board appointed Karen Hanlon president of Highmark Health effective immediately. Hanlon will also retain her current title of chief operating officer. Highmark’s territory includes Delaware.
In addition to her role as chief operating officer, Hanlon has been appointed president of Highmark Health.
Hanlon is currently and will continue to be responsible for managing the operations.
Hanlon began her career in public accounting at KPMG Peat Marwick prior to joining Highmark Inc. in 1997. She held several positions within the finance division before becoming the chief financial officer and treasurer of Highmark Health in 2014, and later, chief operating officer in 2018.
IMC names Newark office leaders
IMC Construction, opened a new office at the University of Delaware STAR Campus in Newark.
The number of Delaware projects has been steadily increasing for IMC, with the completion of over $400 million of projects in recent years, the company noted.
"IMC Construction is excited to establish a presence on the STAR Campus in Newark, Delaware. Having built the Chemours Discovery Hub, we look forward to becoming neighbors to a project we are immensely proud of and continuing our successful ventures within the state," said Craig Hamilton, general manager, who will be leading the Delaware office alongside Mike Cromer, general manager.
Kendal names data analytics scientist
The Kendal Corporation, Newark, a.provider of aging services support and expertise, announced the appointment of Sean Spencer to the role of Data Analytics Scientist.
This hire underscores Kendal’s commitment to leveraging advanced analytics and artificial intelligence to enhance operational efficiency, resident and member care and regulatory compliance across the Kendal System.
Sean has experience in data science for various groups within the United States government.
Leader named for Deaf, Hard of Hearing Office
The Delaware Department of Labor Secretary LaKresha Moultrie announced disability advocate Christina Feil will lead the Delaware Office of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
Feil has more than 20 years of experience as a deaf interpreter, and more than a decade in job coaching and vocational support.
The passage of House Bill 53, which was signed by Governor Matt Meyer in July, authorizes the Office of Deaf and Hard of Hearing to provide residents with assistive devices that facilitate communication or provide users with information pertaining to emergencies.
Bayhealth names cardiology chief
Bayhealth Heart & Vascular Institute named Aditya Sharma as the new Chief of Medical Cardiology. In this role, Dr. Sharma will serve as the physician lead for the Bayhealth Cardiology offices overseeing a team of highly cardiologists, interventionalists and advanced practice clinicians.
Bayhealth Heart & Vascular Institute is a comprehensive cardiovascular center in central and southern Delaware.
Sharma brings experience in interventional cardiology and cardiovascular leadership. Before joining Bayhealth, he served as an interventional cardiologist at Geisinger Medical Clinic in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, followed by his role as Director of the Cardiology Service Line for the West Region at WellSpan Health in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
Beebe adds clinicians
Beebe Healthcare announced the arrival of four new clinicians..
Samuel Birer, MD, is a radiation oncologist who sees patients at both the Beebe South Coastal Cancer Center in Millville and the Beebe Tunnell Cancer Center located on the Abessinio Health Campus. He treats a wide range of cancers.
Akanksha Kushwah, MD, is a medical oncologist who sees patients at Beebe’s Tunnell Cancer Center located on the Abessinio Health Campus. She focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of solid cancers and has a specialized interest in gastroenterologic and thoracic malignancies.
Ajay Koirala, MD, is a hospitalist who provides comprehensive care for adult patients undergoing treatment in the hospital for a wide range of medical issues. He serves as a trusted consultant for Beebe’s surgical teams, offering clinical perspective and guidance as operative cases are planned and performed.
Christopher Miller is a nurse practitioner working as part of Beebe’s hospitalist team. He provides care for patients who have been admitted to the hospital for various acute and chronic medical conditions and has a specialized interest in caring for the geriatric population. Miller has worked for Beebe in various roles since 2016.
