Delaware’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in June 2025 stood at 4%, unchanged from May, the Delaware Department of Labor reported.
The number of unemployed Delawareans in June totaled 20,500, compared to 19,100 in June 2024. The national rate was 4.1% in June down from 4.2% in May. In June 2024, the nation's unemployment rate was 4.1%, while Delaware’s rate was 3.8%.
In June 2025, seasonally adjusted nonfarm employment was 492,800, down from 493,500 in May 2025.
Since June 2024, Delaware’s total nonfarm jobs have increased by a 5,700, up 1.2%. Nationally, jobs during that period increased by 1.1%.
In its monthly commentary, the Delaware Department of Labor reported that the state gained 2,000 jobs in the first half of this year. Of that number, 1,300 came in the healthcare and private education category. That was well above the 52.6% first half national average.
Since June 2024, total employment in Delaware has grown by 5,700, with about 51%, or 2,900 of new positions coming in the healthcare/private education category. That was nearly three times the figure for government, the second fastest growing area.
The growth in healthcare jobs is driven by Delaware having one of the highest average ages among the 50 states.
