Community Foundation announces ‘Meet the Moment” grants
The Delaware Community Foundation announced the opening of its Meet the Moment grant program.
Delaware nonprofits can apply for grants of up to $20,000 to adapt to shifting funding landscapes and build long-term resilience.
With up to $425,000 available in this round, Meet the Moment grants are designed to help nonprofits identify uncertainties in the current environment that will affect their mission, and explore and implement opportunities to adapt.
The grants may support a variety of needs including scenario planning, financial forecasting, exploring new revenue models, legal supports for mergers, advocacy, storytelling and more.
This grant is not intended to cover emergency gaps in funding for continuing programs, but rather to support nonprofits in assessing their viability and path forward in this new environment.
“Nonprofits need funds for proactive planning to meet the current moment,” said Stuart Comstock-Gay, President and CEO of the DCF. “While these grants are not designed to replace federal funding, we are eager to offer nonprofits additional resources to reshape their long-term plans so that our Delaware nonprofit community remains strong.”
Delaware nonprofits can find eligibility details and application materials on the DCFgrants page. Applications must be submitted through the DCF grants portal by May 30, 2025.
An optional online information session will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, from 12–1 p.m. Attendance is encouraged but not required to apply for a Meet the Moment grant. for the virtual information session.
Application window closes this month for Pettinaro grants
The Delaware Community Foundation announced that the Verino and Midge Pettinaro Charitable Fund opened applications for the Pettinaro Supports Delaware grant program.
The family is a Delawre3-based owner and developer of shopping centers and apartments.
The DCF welcomes applications for the Pettinaro Supports Delaware Communities program for initiatives that address children’s needs, community development, education, health, and community insecurities. Nonprofits may apply on behalf of a project, program, or general operating request.
“As a family, we are deeply grateful for the opportunity to give back to the state we love,” said Cindy Pettinaro. “Delaware has given so much to us, and through this fund, we’re proud to help support those who need it most. It is truly an honor to serve and invest in the wellbeing of our community.”
Past grant recipients from the fund include Delaware Children’s Theatre, Sunday Breakfast Mission, and West End Neighborhood House. In 2021, the fund granted $100,000 to the Food Bank of Delaware, providing 300,000 meals.
Nonprofit organizations must apply through the DCF Foundant portal before May 15, 2025 to receive up to $50,000 in funds.
Bank of America makes donations totaling $110,000

This renovation is part of Bank of America's $65 million investment in its Greater Philadelphia and Delaware financial center network over the next three years.
During the reopening ceremony, Chip Rossi, Bank of America Delaware President, presented grants to two partner organizations.
- $80,000 to Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County
- $30,000 to Boys and Girls Club of Delaware
Citizens for Judicial Fairness presents $10,000 donation to Food Bank
Citizens for Judicial Fairness (CJF), an advocacy presented a $10,000 donation to the Food Bank of Delaware to support its ongoing efforts to combat hunger and provide essential services to families in need.
“In the face of uncertainty brought on by recent federal decisions, I’m incredibly grateful to have community partners like Citizens for Judicial Fairness. Their generous donation to the Food Bank of Delaware helps ensure this vital organization can continue its important work—serving thousands of Delaware families and bringing hope to those who need it most,” said Delaware House Speaker Melissa Minor-Brown.
“At Citizens for Judicial Fairness, our mission is to promote transparency, accountability, and fairness in leadership—especially within our courts and institutions,” said Jackie Griffith, executive director of Citizens for Judicial Fairness. “But lasting change requires more than policy reform; it requires strong, resilient communities. That’s why we’re proud to support the Food Bank of Delaware. Their work not only addresses food insecurity, it helps build the kind of civic strength that empowers people to engage, lead, and demand more representative leadership. A more resilient Delaware is the foundation for a fairer Delaware — and we’re honored to be part of that effort.”
Earlier this year, CJF also donated $10,000 to the Police Athletic League of Wilmington’s D.I.V.A.S. program, which empowers young women through entrepreneurship, leadership development, and mentoring—further demonstrating CJF’s commitment to uplifting grassroots efforts that create real opportunities for Delawareans.
$25,000 donation marks opening of new Chick-fil-A
Delaware's newest Chick-fil-A at University Plaza) south of Newark marked its opening last month with a $25,000 donation to support our weekend meal program for kids, the Backpack Program. The donation will enable us to provide 83 children with weekend and holiday food for the entire school year.
