Wilmington and Western Railroad's website recently announced it anticipates a fall opening for the excursion line.
The announcement stated that a group of volunteers was moving forward with repairs to tracks and equipment.
The anticipated opening was briefly announced before its Facebook page was taken down during a dispute with volunteers. The Facebook page remains down after volunteers put up posts critical of the board.
In a surprise announcement in February, the board announced earlier this year that the season was canceled. The volunteer group has criticized the lack of communication with members.
A group known as Concerned Volunteers of the W&WRR has held protests outside the railroad station west of Wilmington, demanding members have the right to vote for board members.
The board has not commented on the shutdown of the dispute, which led to full-time staff members losing their jobs.
The Wilmington and Western's formal name is Historic White Clay Valley. The railroad runs along hilly terrain to the Hockessin area.
The board has not publicly commented on the dispute. However, members of the volunteer group have threatened legal action.
The Wilmington and Western is one of northern Delaware's leading tourist attractions, with promotions during the Easter, autumn, and Christmas seasons.
The railroad operates steam and diesel locomotives and a self-powered rail car known as the Doodlebug.
