Fun City, Tractor Supply fill up vacant Kmart space in Bear

According to a past release, the company currently operates 20 locations in seven states from Maine to New Jersey, with 13 additional sites under construction or with signed leases — in New York, Pennsylvania, and Kansas, as well as Delaware. 

Fun City locations come with trampoline courts, a Ninja course, a ropes course, a zipline, dodgeball, basketball, a playground, a battle beam, a foam pit, bumper ball, and an arcade.

Fun City enters a crowded market with the upscale Main Event in the nearby Christiana area, along with nearby trampoline parks. The indoor sites are a popular location for increasingly lavish birthday parties and other events.

National chain Kid's Empire is opening a  playground  at the nearby Eden Square Shopping Center.

Earlier, Tractor Supply Co. opened a location in the remainder of the Kmart store site. The company has locations in all three counties and in nearby Elkton, MD.

The Bear site allows New Jersey Pennsylvania and Maryland residents to take advantage Delaware's lack of a sales tax for lawn tractors and other big ticket  items. Tax-shopping also draws customers to the Lowe's near the Tractor Supply location.

Tractor Supply was in the news recently when the publicly traded hardware and farm/gardening supplier dropped its climate and social justice goals under presssure from a conservative group that has been targeting companies  concentrated in  areas where such policies are controversial.

Tractor Supply has been moving into northern  suburban areas where such policies are  popular with minority communities and the environmental community.
