The addition of LA Fitness has the Eden Square Shopping Center at 90 percent occupancy, developers reported. The center is near routes 40 and 7 in Bear.
The 700-unit chain opened a new 34,000 square foot sports club at a site once occupied by Lowe’s.
The 230,000 square foot shopping center is owned and managed by a joint venture between affiliates of MCB Real Estate and Acadia Strategic Opportunity Fund IV LLC.
Other anchors are Giant Food and Gabe’s. Gabe’s split the former Lowe’s space.
Smaller retail spaces in the center remain available as well as long-vacant space that formerly housed a Wendy’s.
LA Fitness offers an indoor swimming pool, full-court basketball gym, racquetballs courts, a whirlpool spa and strength and exercise classes such as boot camp conditioning, cycling, kickbox cardio, Pilates and yoga. The club also offers group or individual fitness training.
“A high-quality exercise and fitness experience is among the last things that cannot be accessed on the Internet and, in LA Fitness, we have attracted among the largest and most respected operators in the country to Eden Square Shopping Center,” stated Dan Shabel, portfolio manager for MCB Real Estate.
Fitness Centers are among the businesses targeted by developers as big box stores vacate smaller buildings or close stores. In the case of Lowe’s, the home improvement chain moved across Route 40 to a larger site.
The center is owned by owned and managed by a joint venture between affiliates of MCB Real Estate and Acadia Strategic Opportunity Fund IV.
