Sullivan retires as managing director of Courtyard Newark
William “Bill” Sullivan has retired from Shaner Hotels, manager of the Courtyard by Marriott - Newark at the University of Delaware.
Bill joined Shaner Hotels in 2004 as the Managing Director of the Courtyard by Marriott – Newark at the University of Delaware, after retiring from the DuPont Co. with 31 years at DuPont Hospitality and Real Estate operations.
When Sullivan joined Shaner, he was an Adjunct Professor at the University of Delaware and remains in that role. The hotel is a teaching hotel, where students of UD’s Hospitality Management. The hotel has a classroom in its building.
“During his tenure with Shaner Hotels, Bill has influenced hundreds of University of Delaware students in their career journey into hospitality. Additionally, Bill is a strong proponent of developing his team and promoting from within. With his leadership and guidance, he has set up the Courtyard UD to be successful after he retires. During his 21 years at Shaner Hotels, he not only excelled in his role but also served as a mentor, colleague, and friend to many of us,” a note from Shaner stated.
New Castle County CFO leaves post
New Castle CountyChief Financial Officer Jill Floore is leaving her post to pursue a new professional opportunity at the University of Delaware.
Appointed by the County Executive, the Chief Financial Officer heads the Office of Finance and manages the financial health of the County. Floore was one of the first appointments made Henry.
Floore has served in leadership positions, including CFO for Brandywine School District and Red Clay Consolidated School District.
County Executive Henry named New Castle County Chief of Technology & Administrative Services David Del Grande to serve as Acting Chief Financial Officer. Del Grande has been Chief of Technology & Administrative Services since February 2025.
He returned to county government, bringing more than 30 years of experience in government and financial management, including 18 years with the county’s Office of Finance. He formerly served as Finance Director for the City of Newark.
Johnson named Market President at TD Bank
TD Bank announced that Demetrius Johnson has been promoted to Retail Market President of the Mid-South Metro, which includes Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
As Retail Market President, Johnson will lead a team of six Retail Market Managers and oversee TD’s local retail operations at more than 125 locations, including 12 locations in Delaware. Johnson is based in Greenville, SC .
The Board of Trustees of Goldey-Beacom College (GBC) is pleased to announce the appointment of William P. Brady, Esquire as its most recent trustee appointment.
Brady, whose term begins July 1, 2025, is the founder of The Brady Law Firm, P.A. in Wilmington, Delaware. Representing clients in Delaware since February 2015, Brady has 30 years’ experience as an attorney with areas of practice including landlord/tenant law, representation of homeowners’ and condominium associations, real estate litigation matters and real estate settlements.
A member of the Delaware State Bar Association since 1995, Brady held the role of president from 2019–2020. He is a past chair of both the DSBA’s Real and Personal Property Section and the Small Firms and Solo Practitioners’ Section. Brady frequently speaks at Real Estate-related Continuing Legal Education seminars for attorneys in Delaware.
Brady has been named one of Delaware’s top real estate attorneys each year from 2019 through 2024 in Delaware Today Magazine. He has been admitted to practice in Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania as well as before the United States Supreme Court. He has achieved a Peer Review Rating of “AV” by Martindale Hubbell which is the highest rating an attorney can receive for legal ability and ethics.
His decades of commitment to many nonprofit organizations include his long-standing involvement with the GBC Alumni Board since 2013. Brady has led the Alumni Association’s popular Drives for Education Golf Outing event for over 10 years.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Management from GBC and a Juris Doctor from Widener University School of Law. Brady resides in Newark, Delaware with his wife, Deborah. They have two sons, Patrick and Sean.
Johnson named Rehoboth branch manager
Community Bank Delaware announced Jessica Johnson as Assistant Vice President & Rehoboth Branch Manager.
Before joining the bank, Johnson launched and managed the 26th Street Branch for The Bank of Delmarva. She also held the role of Solution Center Manager at LinkBank..
Community Bank Delaware has branches in Lewes, Rehoboth and Seaford with a new branch soon in Long Neck. .
Allen named to Sussex planning panel
The Sussex County Council, at its Tuesday appointed Jeffrey G. Allen of Laurel to a seat on the Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission.
The commission reviews and makes recommendations on subdivision applications and other land use requests. He will serve a three-year term. The commission has been in the spotlight as concerns over growth policies continue in Sussex
Allen is a retired insurance claims manager. He succeeds Robert C. Wheatley, whose three-year term expired June 30, but remained on the commission to close out several pending matters awaiting action.
