Second Front announces board changes
Second Front Systems, a Wilmington-based public-benefit software company announced two updates to its Board of Directors: Nand Mulchandani, former Chief Technology Officer of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), has joined as a Director, and CEO Tyler Sweatt has been appointed Chairman of the Board.
Mulchandani brings over 25 years of experience in bridging Silicon Valley innovation and national security. He co-founded and scaled startups to successful exits that led to acquisitions by Cisco, Citrix, VMware, and Oracle. He also spearheaded mission-critical technology innovation and accelerated national security as CTO at both the Department of Defense’s Joint Artificial Intelligence Center (JAIC) and the CIA.
Sweatt succeeds co-founder Peter Dixon who, as co-founder and Chairman, was instrumental in shaping the company’s vision and positioning it as a trusted partner at the intersection of commercial innovation and national security, a release stated.
Under Sweatt’s leadership, 2F has advanced capabilities to the warfighter at the edge and in the most sensitive mission environments, expanded its platform to serve more areas of the federal government, forged strategic partnerships across the defense-tech ecosystem, and accelerated international growth to strengthen U.S. allies, according to the release.

Board changes at Chemours
The Chemours Company (“Chemours”) today announced that its Board of Directors appointed Independent Director Mary Cranston as Chair of the Board and Alister Cowan to the role of Lead Independent Director. The appointments follow the departure of Dawn Farrell, who has accepted a position with the Canadian government as the Chief Executive Officer of the newly created Major Projects Office under the Building Canada Act.
Cranston, a director since 2015, led Chemours’ multi-year Board refresh, bringing in leaders aligned with the company’s strategic priorities.
Cowan, appointed to the Board in 2023, is a financial executive with over 30 years of experience, including 15 years as a public company CFO.

Berry nominated to serve as Veterans Affairs Secretary
Governor Matt Meyer announced that he is nominating Brigadier General Karen A. Berry to serve as the first Cabinet Secretary of the newly created Delaware Department of Veterans Affairs, marking a historic step forward in the state’s commitment to veterans.
Meyer signed House Bill 1 establishing the Department, elevating veterans’ services to a cabinet-level agency for the first time.
Berry retired from the Delaware National Guard in 2023 following more than three decades of service. She most recently served as Director of the Joint Staff for both the Delaware and Connecticut National Guards and previously deployed to Afghanistan as Deputy Commander of the 335th Signal Command.
In addition to her military career, Berry is a retired educator, having taught mathematics for 25 years in Delaware schools before serving as a Mathematics Specialist at Sussex Central High School. Since 2023, she has served as a Veterans Advocate at Delaware Technical Community College’s Owens Campus in Georgetown.

Delaware Theatre Company names managing director
Delaware Theatre Company announced the appointment of Candice Buchanan as its new Managing Director.
Buchanan will partner withProducing Artistic DirectorMimi Warnick, who has led the organization since March,.
Most recently Buchanan served as Chief Programs and Development Officer at YWCA Delaware.
Board Chair Lourdes Puig added, “We are thrilled to welcome Candice to the DTC family. Her collaboration with Mimi promises an exciting new era, where creativity, innovation, and community engagement go hand in hand.”

Ogden named Springboard Delaware chair
Springboard Delaware is proud to announce the appointment of Tom Ogden as board chair.
Before his appointment, Ogden served as Neighborhood Development Director for the City of Wilmington, where he focused on improving the quality of life with a special interest in affordable housing. He also served on the staff of Wilmington Mayor Mike Purzycki, where he worked on strategic initiatives addressing homelessness, housing access, and neighborhood revitalization.

Healthcare
TidalHealth promotes Sonder
TidalHealth announced the promotion of Paul Sonder, to Senior Administrative Director of Cancer Services. In this role, Sonder will oversee strategic planning, business operations, and the continued growth of TidalHealth’s oncology service line.
TidalHealth operates a hospital and cancer center in Seaford. The organization is based in Salisbury, MD.
Sonder brings more than 15 years of leadership experience in oncology and transplant services at institutions including NYU Langone Health, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, and Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center.
Most recently, he served as Assistant Vice President at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, where he led lung transplant and pulmonary programs.
Bayhealth adds neurologist
Bayhealth welcomed neurologist Adebola Awolesi, MD, to its team of neurological care providers. Dr. Awolesi is now seeing patients at Bayhealth Neurology, Blue Hen in Dover.
Awolesi specializes in diagnosing and treating disorders of the nervous system, with a clinical interest in electrodiagnostic testing of nerves and muscles.
Awolesi began her neurology residency at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, where she served as chief residen
She completed her residency at Temple University and went on to pursue fellowship training in clinical neurophysiology at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, MD.
